Pruhonice Park in Czech Republic

Our Story

Czech Garden Design was founded on a simple belief: that every outdoor space, regardless of size, has the potential to become a place of beauty, tranquility, and connection with nature. We have dedicated ourselves to helping property owners throughout the Czech Republic realize this potential.

Our work is guided by a deep respect for the Czech landscape and its rich horticultural heritage. From the formal baroque gardens of Prague to the naturalistic parks of the Bohemian countryside, we draw inspiration from centuries of garden-making tradition while embracing contemporary sustainable practices.

Today, we continue to pursue our mission of creating gardens that enhance the quality of life for their owners while contributing positively to the broader environment. Every project is an opportunity to demonstrate that beautiful gardens can also be ecologically responsible.

What Guides Our Work

The principles that inform every design decision we make

01

Connection to Place

Every garden should feel like it belongs to its location. We study the surrounding landscape, local building traditions, and native vegetation to create designs that are rooted in their context. A garden in Prague should feel different from one in Brno, reflecting the unique character of each place.

02

Sustainable Practice

Environmental stewardship is not optional. We design gardens that conserve water, support pollinators, and minimize the need for chemical inputs. By working with natural processes rather than against them, we create landscapes that are both beautiful and beneficial to the ecosystem.

03

Long-term Thinking

Gardens are living things that change over time. We design with the future in mind, selecting plants that will mature gracefully and creating structures that will improve with age. A well-designed garden should be more beautiful in twenty years than it is today.

04

Human Scale

Gardens are for people. Beyond aesthetics, we focus on how spaces will be used and experienced. Comfortable seating areas, well-proportioned pathways, and thoughtful sight lines ensure that our gardens are as pleasant to inhabit as they are to view.

Kromeriz Castle Garden

The Czech Garden Tradition

The Czech Republic possesses an extraordinary garden heritage. The gardens at Kromeriz, recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage sites, represent some of the finest examples of baroque garden design in Europe. These historic gardens demonstrate the potential for creating outdoor spaces of profound beauty and meaning.

While our projects are typically more modest in scale, we carry forward the spirit of these great gardens: attention to detail, sensitivity to proportion, and a commitment to creating spaces that engage all the senses. Whether designing a contemporary garden or restoring a historic landscape, we approach each project with the same dedication to excellence.

The Czech climate, with its distinct seasons and varied terrain, offers wonderful opportunities for garden design. The reliable winter dormancy allows for dramatic spring displays, while the warm summers support a rich palette of flowering plants. Understanding these rhythms is essential to creating gardens that perform beautifully throughout the year.

Our Approach to Design

Every project begins with listening. We want to understand how you live, how you hope to use your outdoor space, and what brings you joy. This understanding forms the foundation of our design work.

We then conduct a thorough analysis of your site, studying soil conditions, sun patterns, drainage, existing vegetation, and views both into and out of the garden. This investigation reveals the opportunities and constraints that will shape our design response.

The design process itself is collaborative. We present concepts, gather feedback, and refine our proposals until we arrive at a solution that feels right. We believe that the best gardens emerge from dialogue between designer and client, combining professional expertise with personal vision.
